Bangalore City Railway Station

Bangalore City Railway Station is the main railway station of city, which contributes largely in passenger travel and also in goods transportation. It is the biggest railway station in state, and is set to add 2 more platforms in the existing 10. This development will soon increases the capacity of station to operate additional trains. It is well connected to rest of the country both by meter gauge and broad gauge. Most of the railway tracks are made up of broad gauge, which has 1.69 meter wide tracks. In desert areas and many other difficult areas, broad gauge tracks are difficult to laid, so meter gauge tracks are laid in such areas. There tracks are 1 meter wide, that's why these tracks are known as meter gauge.
